Ant Circle!

Apparently: "The vortex of ants, called the ant death spiral by some, is a circular mill where a group of ants (sometimes hundreds to millions of ants) get separated from the main swarm and ended up following each other’s scent in a circle. It’s called the death spiral because they continue to go in circles until they’re exhausted and die."

Mmmmm. Magnificent.

I especially love the way he is virtually expressionless, but at the same time his face seems to perfectly convey whats he's playing.

It's a beaut.

Hedgehog in the Fog.

Please give it a monite. It really is pretty wonderful.

I need to coin a new word. For this. And Samorost (Link). And 'What Was i Afraid Of?'

Like Umami, the Japanese(?) word for a kind of 'savouriness' of flavour.

My new word will describe a kind of....cute-ness, mixed with vulnerability, and loneliness. Peril. A small protagonist in a dark and unsure situation or landscape. A place you feel you sort-of want to be, but are a little scared of as well. Hard to describe. ....Think i need to find more examples....

Mathematical Inflation Caused by Cretins.

100% is not very good any more.

In fact, 100% is just plain mediocre. I'm not gonna bother with anything that's only 100% anymore. 110% is the new base-rate, it seems.

Except it's not. You can't deflate MATHS. People are all idiots.

Rant prompted by my witnessing a woman on telly this evening utter the phrase; "Anything George does, he always gives it 150%. If not more."

If. Not. More......

I despair.

I said, "I do not fear those pants
With nobody inside them."
I said, and said, and said those words.
I said them. But I lied them.

Oh boy....

Mmmmm. Weird feelings.

What Was i Scared of?,
A lesser-known Suess story. This had some very strange effects on me. Absolutely terrifying, and fascinating.

For years, an image in this book stayed with me, but i could never find the source of it... asked around the family, cousins Clare and Rachel, and brother Mad Dave, no-one could recall it....until eventually i thought i must've invented it. In my head, i called it The Haunted Trousers. Even did some illustrations for it, trying to capture the 'feel', that was in my head.

Then yesterday, i found it. Hit the motherlode. For me, this thing just has atmosphere oozing out of it. My Amazon.com order is already complete.

Still, bit gutted i didn't invent it myself.....

The Lorax

Part One.

'Ask the Once-ler. He knows.'

Oh man. Something of the dark tone of the book is somehow lost in this animated version, but, it's still good. Well, it IS the Lorax.

You can keep your Cat-in-the-hats, and Grinchs. In fact, stick them right up your jumper. This is proper Seuss right here.
